호주에서 아르헨티나로 가기로했던 계획이 변경되어 현재 한국에 와있습니다.
한국을 떠난지 2년 3개월만에 고국땅을 밟기까지 수 많은 분들의 도움이 있었기에 가능할 수 있었습니다.
Worldmelody project에 도네이션 해주신 수 많은 Supporter들과 Couch surfing host들 그리고 Worldmelody Project Team member들 그리고 가족들에게 다시 한번 감사의 말씀을 올리며 약 2개월 후인 9월경에 러시아를 거쳐 북유럽 동유럽 그리고 터키여행을 계획 중에 있습니다. 기회가 된다면 America 대륙까지 갈수 있었으면 좋겠습니다. 어려운 인터넷 환경으로 호주에서 인터넷을 못해 미루어 두었던 지난 여행얘기를 차차 올리도록 하겠습니다. 너무 오랫동안 소식을 못 전한 저의 불찰을 용서 받을 수 있다면 큰 영광이겠습니다. 앞으로 성실한 모습으로 은혜의 보답하도록 하겠습니다. 관심가지고 지켜봐 주시면 감사하겠습니다.

Hi All my followers & Supporters!
I'm temporally in South Korea now from Australia. My first plan of going to Argentina has been changed because I need to see a doctor for checking my health condition and get a TOEIC score.
Above all, I really want to thank to Worldmelody project supporters and Couch surfing hosts, Worldmelody project team member, my sincerely friends, my family and anonymous.
If there were not you guys helping me I couldn't make anything. I won't forget about experience and memory with all for my life.
Let me tell my next plan. I'm planing to go Russia, East,North Europe 2 month later and
I'll post my story of traveling before I go.

내가 약 2개월 반정도 머물렀던 밀두라는 Victora주의 약 80%의
포도를 공급하는 포도농장이 아주 유명한 곳이다.
Queensland주의 Mundubberra, St. George 에 이어
3번째로 일한 포도농장이기도 한데
낮엔 덥지만 밤엔 아주 추워 Caravan Park에 머물렀던 나는
매일밤마다 추위와 싸웠던 기억이 생생하다.
이곳에서 일하며 사실 난 활기를 잃어 가고 있었다.
매일 반복되는 일과 이별의 아픔이 주된 이유였다.
그러던중 새로이 일을 하로 들어온 이용과 우연히 대화를
나누게 되었고 최고의 Stylist가 되겠다는 그의 꿈 이야기를 들으며
난 나의 상황을 다시 한번 돌아보게 되었다.
그리고 대웅과 함께 한 Study Group으로
영어 공부를 계속 하며 다시 잃었던 웃음과 활기를 조금씩 되찾아 갔다.
그렇게 우리는 서로에게 의지가 되며 농장에서의 힘든 생활을
조금은 재밌고 의미있게 바꾸어 가기 시작했다.
그리고 농장일이 끝날때쯤 그들은
Worldmelody Project를 같이 발전시키길 원하는 Team Member가 되었다.

호주에 와서 중지된 worldmelodyproject가 그들을 만나
다시 꽃을 피울수 있게 되었다.
그들의 Support가 혼자였던 내게 엄청난 힘이 되었다.

이제 다시 시작이다.
비로 조금씩이지만 프로젝트는 계속, 계속, 계속 될것이다.

호주에 온지 어느덧 7개월이라는 시간이 흘렀다.
돌이켜 보면 아주 많은 시간이 있었음에도
블로그에 신경을 못쓴것이 호주에 있는 내내 마음에 걸렸다.
많은 사람들이 기다리고 있다는 것을 알았기에
그만큼 더 미안했던거 같다.

호주에 온 뒤로 프로젝트는 잠시 중단하고
직면한 재정적 어려움을 타개하기 위해 Working holiday visa로
농장에 들어가 일을 했었다.

돈을 위해서 일을 했던 그 시간이 내게 참 힘겨웠지만
어쩌면 내가 그토록 찾고 있는 꿈과 비젼의 중요성을 다시 한번
공고히 다지는 계기가 되었던 의미있는 시간이 된것 같다.

그리고 또한 다시 한번 프로젝트를 도전할수 있도록 힘이 되어준
귀한 인연 이용과 대웅을 만날수 있던것 또한
호주가 내게 준 큰 선물이다.

바로셀로나에는 참 좁지만 아름다운 거리들이 많다.
역사속에 사람들이 걸어다닐것만 같은 느낌도 드는데
그곳에서 이 프로젝트가 사람들이 예상하지 못할때
자신을 되돌아볼수 있게하는 조그만 충격이 되길 바랬다.
많은 사람들이 나를 의아해하며 스쳐 지나쳤지만
고맙게도 너무도 반가워하며 관심을 가진분도 있었다.
내가 그런분을 간절히 기다리는것과 같이
나를 그렇게 기다리는 사람이 있을지 모른다.
누구일지 모르지만 또 이 구절이 필요한 사람을 위해
프로젝트는 계속 될것이다.

스페인 제2의 도시인 바로셀로나의 중심 Las Ramblas St.

언제나 길거리 공연자들로 넘쳐나고 사람들로
붐비는 그곳에서 바로셀로나의 첫 포퍼먼스를 시작했다.
Spanish를 잘 모르기에 사람들이
프로젝트에 물으면 어떻게 대답하지..란 걱정이 되었지만
그래도 웃어보여야지 뭐 다른수는 없었다.
예상대로 청년들이 몰려와 알수 없는
Spanish를 물어올때 땀이 났지만
다행히도 그중 한명이 영어를 해서 그들과 이야기 할수있었다.
언어의 장벽은 무시할수 없을정도로 컷지만
이 프로젝트가 그들에게 새로운 것에 대한 충격과 잠깐이라도
옳은것에 대해 생각할수 있게 하는 시간을
줄수 있었다면 그 장벽에 조금이라도 금이 가지 않았을까..

뭔가 대단한것을 이가족에게 안겨준것은 아니지만
그래도 잠시동안 이 여행에 대해서 얘기하고
꼬마와 이 가족에게 잠깐이나마 의미있는

파리 Metro에는 참 다양한 의자가 있습니다.

각 역마다 의자가 다른데요.

뭐 의자가 큰 일이냐구요?
전 역마다 다르게 디자인되어있는 의자를 보면서 프랑스 자유로우면서도
아름다움을 추구하는 정신을 보게되었습니다.

말랑말랑한 생각으로 세상을 아름답게 하는 사람들이 더 많아졌으면 하는
바람을 한가득 안고서 파리에서..

2009년 9월 22일 Pont des Arts Bridge에서는
20분동안 우리의 Performance 사진만 찍는 작가도 있었고,
포르투갈어가 없다며 직접 포르투갈어를
번역해준 포르투갈 출신의 Renata도 있었고,
의자에 앉아 한동안 이 구절을 보며
생각에 잠긴 이름 모를 사람도 있었다.

2009년 9월 22일 Paris의 Pont des Arts Bridge를 걸었던 사람들의
내일이 어제와 같지 않길 바라면서.

We live in a time where comfort and speed are the best.
나 또한 빠르고 편한것이 최고라 여기는 사람이다.
Indeed even I think this is true.
그런데 아프리카 속담인 이 구절을 보고 멈칫했던 이유는
빨리 무언가를 이루는 것보다
오래도록 무언가를 지속시키길 더 원하기 때문이었다.
But the reason that people stopped in their paths to take
another look at this African proverb, is because somewhere
inside there is a desire to maintain and continue something
for a long time, instead of achieving something too quickly.
그것이 여행이던, 사랑이던, 일에 대한 성공이던 간에 말이다.
And this applies to success in travels, love, work, etc.
이 글이 보는 사람이 처해 있는 상황에 좋은 해결책이 되었으면 한다.
I hope that people who see this statement will find a
good solution to whatever their situation is.

This is the Georges Pompidou Center, the museum of
Modern art.

A cool lamp in the Museum Shop. I want to

The book that caught my eye the most in the Pompidou Centre Shop!

Feminism을 주제로 한 여성작가들의 전시.
뉴욕 메트로폴리탄 뮤지엄이 소장한 작품들중 오직 3%만이 여성작가라는점을
재미있는 visual과 fact로 재치있게 어필한 아이디어가 좋았다.
This is an exhibition by the Guerrilla Girls, a group of
Feminist, female artists highlighting the lack of female
representation in the art world today.
The top work says that in the NY Metropolitan Museum of
Art, less than 3% of the artists are female, but 83% of the
nudes are paintings of females. Quite an irony, no?

조명을 통해 바닥에 새로운 작품을 탄생시킨 작가의
재기발랄한 아이디어.
An innovative way of using light to create new
art on the ground surface.

미술의 인식과 역사를 바꿔 놓은 Duchamp의 샘(Fountain).
This is Duchamp's "Fountain," which changed the history
of art, and what we consider art to be.

왜 자전거 바퀴는 자전거에만 있어야하죠?
Why do bicycle wheels only have to be on bicycles? :)

시각장애인을 위한 만질수 있는 그림.
이것이 세상을 밝게하는 아이디어가 아닌가.
These are tactile renditions of famous artworks in order
that the blind may be able to "see" the works and read
about them. I think this is a really great idea that
makes the world brighter.

Tate Modern 에서 가장 맘에 들었던 Robert Therriend의 작품.
보는 순간 보는이를 거인의 세계에 빠뜨리는 작가의 유쾌함을 사랑한다.
I liked Robert Therriend's work the most at the Tate Modern.
It made the viewers feel like they had entered Giant Land.
I really love the artist's sense of humor!

모두 모형이지만 실제같았던 작품.

실제여서 Impact있었던것 보다는 Wheelchair를 타고 사방이 벽으로
막힌곳에서 나갈수 없는 그들의 고독함을 보았기에 좋았던 작품.
Although they're all casts, they really looked real. But what's more
impacting than the realistic sculptures was the loneliness and isolation
of seniors expressed through the moving wheelchairs that couldn't
escape the blocked off room.

LA County Museum의 Your Bright future 전시에 이은 좋은 전시.
After LACMA's "Your Bright Future" exhibition, this was
another great Korean exhibition.
런던에서 6월 20일 부터 7월 5일까지 예정되있던 전시가
런던관람객들의 좋은 반응으로 10월 1일 까지 연장된것은
한국의 예술이 성장하고 있음을 느끼게 한다.
The "Moon Generation" exhibition was originally scheduled
from June 20 to July 5th, but because of the enthusiastic
response from viewers, it was extended until October 1st.
It made me feel like Korean art was thriving. :)

런던에서 만난 한국.
Scoop of Korea라는 타이틀 아래 한국 전통음식을 시연하고 있었는데
조금은 진행이 느렸고 재밌지 못한 점이 아쉬웠다.

아슬아슬한 곡예를 연출하며

위험을 무릅쓴 퍼포먼스에 아낌없는 박수를 보냈다.

Night Canival!!
Notting Hill Canival에 이어 두번째 Canival인
Thames Festival의 백미.
낮에 하는 Canival은 접해봤지만
밤에 하는 Canival은 처음이었는데
조명과 밤의 운치 그리고 열정적인 참가자들의
퍼포먼스는 최고의 Canival을 만들어냈다.

Camden Town Market에서 발견한 사랑스러운 말.
There are horse statues galore at Camden Lock Market, where
stalls sell everything from vintage/punk/alternative clothing,
food, antiques, souvenirs, etc., to name a few.
Camden Market에서.

On the streets of Brick Lane Market there's clothing
and food vendors galore every Sunday! This was one of
our favorite markets. :) Booths sell clothing, shoes, jewelry,
bags, and international foods that make your mouth water
just at the sight! Outside of the main building and along
Brick Lane people come out early in the morning and
open up their suitcases to sell their used/vintage clothing.

"Walking in my mind." 22 June~6 Sept.2009

Kusama professed seeing halllucinations as a child
that were filled with the same repetitive theme: polkadots.
As a cathartic release from her often suicidal and
obsessive thoughts as a child, she began making drawings
of these polkadots that would serve as a catalyst for her
now signature motif.

This street performer was at the entrance to the
Millennium Bridge linking St. Paul's Cathedral and

2009 Notting Hill Canival!
Aug. 30, 31

유럽의 가장 큰 카니발 중의 하나인 Notting Hill Canival.
그 곳에서도 Worldmelodyproject는 계속 되었다.
One of the biggest carnivals in Europe is the Notting Hill
Carnival, a street festival of Caribbean pride, parades,
masquerades, street vendors, face painting, dancing, and
of course unending Red Stripe Lager.

Worldmelody Project went to the Carnival on the 30th,
and we were amazed by the crowds of people. The Caribbean
music thundered in your ears as people danced without
refrain amidst the green and yellow of the Jamaican flag,
costume feathers, and the aroma of jerk chicken wafting
throughout the streets.

I wonder what people thought as Aiden held up the
statement: "Things come true as you believe in them."
For all the bright smiles, and the many pictures taken of our
sign, I hope that the meaning of the words weren't
overpowered by the bustling crowds.

세상을 살면서 믿는데로 이루어진것보다는
이루어지지 않은것이 더 많을지 모르겠다.
아니 맘대로 안되는것들이 너무 많아
저말은 틀린말이라고 할 사람이 많을것 같다.
비난을 감수하고 사람들 앞에 섰다.
이유야 어찌됐건 사람들에겐
꿈이 필요하고 믿음이 필요하기 때문이다.

한동안 사진을 못올린 이유는
카메라를 잃어버렸기 때문이었다.
런던 뮤지엄 앞 벤치에 두고온 카메라를
다시 찾을 수 있을까하는 걱정이 앞섰지만
마음씨 좋은 어떤 사람이 다시 가져다 줄지
모른다는 실낱같은 희망을 놓지 않았다.
뮤지엄과 경찰서에 얘기를 해둔지
이틀만에 카메라를 누가 다시 가져왔다는
이메일을 받을수 있었다.

믿는데로 이루어지는구나.
믿음 그것은 생각보다 큰 힘이 있다.

Hello from Piccadilly Circus, a road junction connecting Regent St.,
Piccadilly, Covent, and Shaftsbury Ave. in a circular path
(hence "circus" = circle). I performed today at the Shaftsbury Memorial
Fountain with the Statue of Anteros which sits at the very center
of the Circus. This place is always bustling with vehicles and
tourists, and it reminds me a little of Times Square in NYC. :)

정들었던 뉴욕을 떠나 새로운 땅 런던에서

프로젝트를 다시 시작하는것은 다시 내 안의 두려움을 깨고

나가는 또 다른 도전이라 그런지 두려웠다.

월드멜로디 프로젝트의 5번째 Statement인

"믿는데로 이루어진다"는 내가 평소 믿고 따르는 말이다.

믿음이란 보이는 것들의 반대라 하는데 나를 비롯한 많은 사람들이 얼마나 보이는것만을

쫓고 따르는가 생각해본다.

이번 Statement는 지난날 어린시절 모든 것을 가능하게 했던 비밀인 순수한 믿음의 힘을 스스로 새로이 깨닫고 프로젝트로 만나는 많은 사람들을 일깨우고 싶은 소망이 담겨있다.

Hello London! Aug. 12-15 (Part I)

LONDON, United Kingdom

London welcomed Worldmelody Project on Wednesday with
a day of cloudy skies and light rain, but the anticipation of a new
country, new friends, and a new phase in Worldmelody Project
kept the jitters and adrenaline rushing throughout our first
day's experience of London architecture, the Tube, fish & chips,

and Gareth, our first couchsurfer. As we stake out new
locations for Worldmelody Project we are excited to be in a
new place and await the new people we will meet and the
new experiences we will gain!

Aiden's first experience on the Tube! : )
Our first destination on the tube: Wood Green.

Near Gareth's place in Wood Green. He's our first Couchsurfer,
graciously hosting us for our first few days in London! : )

a wonderful site for people hosting travelers and those needing
a place to crash while abroad!

First sightseeing stop near Leicester Square. Love the cultural
brick buildings.

Los Angeles! Aug. 1-11

Los Angeles!

I had a short stay in Los Angeles while Annie went to go
visit her family before we prepared to go on to Europe.
Below are pictures of the sites I went to!

I went to LACMA (LA County Museum of Art) and took
a picture of the exterior 'caused the colors reminded me
of our sign.

I thought this was an interesting touch. "Your Bright Future"
was the name of the exhibition at LACMA, where 12
Contemporary Artists from Korea were showing. If only we could
press a button on the elevator to get to where we want to in life. :)
Or maybe not. Maybe the journey is what it's all about!

I saw my favorite car, the VW Minivan at Universial City.
I always dream of roadtripping around the world
(across Europe presently) in this minivan!

This is Will Smith's square on the Hollywood Walk of
Fame. It struck me because of what Smith wrote:
"Change the World." I wonder what he thought of while
he wrote that? What comes to your mind?

Do you see Spiderman? =)

Yum! We made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese
frosting and Ghiradelli chocolate at Annie's grandma's
house. They were delicious. :) Never knew you could
actually make it! I never ate lots of sweets until I met
Annie. She has a major sweet tooth. >.<

July 22 2009 Washington Square Park 28th day.

Every new place I perform at gives me a sense of

nervous anticipation. Today made no difference.

Today's performance was at Washington Square Park,

one of the landmarks of NYC, Greenwich Village, and NYU.

With the symbolic white arch of Washington stoically standing,

and the central fountain gathering all the locals and tourists,

this park has been a hub for artists, writers, activists, the

hippie movement, movies, and of course, performances.

For all that said, I began my performance at the arch,

but in less than five minutes the park security came and I

was told to stop. I've gotten used to this happening by now,

so I peacefully got my things together, and was about to

relocate, when passersby started gathering in front of me.

In my moment of slight dejection, the encouraging words

and curious faces that asked about Worldmelody Project

helped turned the situation inside out.

Of particular note, one young man said to me,

"I believe you can change the world."

In his sincerity and genuine enthusiasm he was a source

of positive energy that sometimes, I forget I need.

After I said goodbye, I relocated to the park's fountain

(where fortunately park security didn't mind), and

continued with the performance. I realize today that

you can't undermine the impact of another's kindness.

Sometimes it's that kindness that turns an inner frown,

into an inner smile.

About Sangmo:

demonstrating my outfit at P.S.1.

For all those who are curious about the outfit I wear during

my performances, I created a video to show the whole process

of preparing the "sangmo" that I wear everyday.

What's a sangmo?

The sangmo is a traditional, Korean ribbon hat worn as part

of a dance costume during festivals and other happy occasions.

During a sangmo dance the dancers swing their heads in precise

gestures to create dynamic and beautiful ribbon movements.

The sangmo dance is often accompanied with drums and other

instruments, jumping, and twirling.

Why do I wear it?

I wear a sangmo because I want to represent who I am as a

part of Worldmelody Project. I hope to display pride for my

country, South Korea, and at the same time inspire others to take

pride in their place of origin as well - not solely for nationalism,

but as a means of appreciating the beautiful cultures that create

the world we live in.

"They can swing the sangmos while jumping, forming dynamic rings with sangmo ribbons.

4 번째 Statement.

The 4th Statement.

독일에서 여행와 브루클린 브릿지에서 만난 Verena는

Worldmelody Project에 대해 큰 관심을 보이며 독일 하노버에

오면 꼭 연락하라는 말과 함께 노트에 자신의 이메일 주소를

적어주었다.

I met Verena on the Brooklyn Bridge. She had come to NY from

Germany to travel. She showed a lot of interest in Worldmelody

Project and while writing me her email address, she told me to

contact her when I came to Hanover, Germany.

퍼포먼스중이었던 나는 정신없이 고맙다며 꼭 독일에

가면 연락하겠노라고 인사를 나누었다.

I was in the middle of the performance, so I told her thank you

and that I would contact her when I got to Germany.

그리고 숙소에 돌아와 펼쳐본 노트에는 그녀의 이메일 주소와

"Be the change you want to see in the world."란

Statement가 적혀있었다.

When I came back home I opened the note, and inside

was the email address and a quote by Gandhi:

"Be the change you want to see in the world."

생각지 못한 그녀의 메모는 기분좋은 충격을 주며 이프로젝트를

하기로 결심하던 첫날을 떠올리게 만들었다.

The note was uncalled for, but was quite a nice surprise.

It helped remind me of the day I decided to start this project.

프로젝트를 통해 사람들에게 긍정적인 변화를 일으키겠다는 생각과

목표가 있었지만 사람들앞에 서는것은 너무나 떨리는 현실이었다.

Through Worldmelody Project I had the idea and goal

to bring positive change to people. But in reality, I knew

that I was too embarrassed and nervous to talk and stand

in front of people.

그건 아마도 내가 영어를 잘 못하고 보수적인 한국문화속에서

자란 배경때문도 있지만 무엇보다도, 그건 사람들 앞에 나와

새로운 뭔가를 한다는 것에 대한 나만의 두려움이었던것 같다.

Perhaps it was the language barrier, or perhaps it was

my conservative Korean culture, but overall, it was my

own fear of stepping out and really doing something.

솔직히 고백하자면 나 스스로는 부끄러움을 이겨내지 못했을것이다.

To be honest, I wasn't able to overcome this fear by myself.

허나 자리를 털고 일어나 걸어나가 사람들앞에 설수 있게

한것은 여자친구인 Annie의 격려와 기도였다.

The reason I was able to forget everything and do this

project in front of people was because of my girlfriend

Annie's encouragement and prayers.

변화가 필요했지만 스스로 변화되기란 너무나도 어려웠다.

I needed change, but actually changing was so difficult.

누군가 내게 변화되기 위해 어떻게 해야하는지 묻는다면

If you ask me what you can do if you really want to change,

then I want to say...

난 주저없이 누군가를 사랑하는것이 가장 쉬운 방법이라고 말하고 싶다.

...that the easiest way is to LOVE SOMEONE WITHOUT HESITATION.

우리가 세상을 바꾸고 성장해 나갈 수 있는 것은 우리가

나누는 사람들과의 관계를 통해 가능한 것이다. 우리는 우리

자신이 해낼 수 있는 한계가 있다. 만약 우리가

사랑하는 사람들에게 긍정적인 존재로 다가간다면 변화는

훨씬 더 쉬워질 것이고 위대해질 것이다.

It is through the relationships that we share that we

can change and grow. We can only do so much by ourselves.

If we allow ourselves to be a positive presence to those

we love, then change (for the either of us) becomes that

much easier, and significant.

한 남자가 자전거를 타고 가다가 멈춘 후 내쪽을 보며

드로잉을 시작했다.

One guy riding a bicycle suddenly stopped, looked my way,

and started drawing.

아름다운 Brooklyn Bridge의 풍경을 그리겠거니 하며 난

퍼포먼스를 계속했다.

I thought he was probably drawing the landscape of the

Brooklyn Bridge, and so I continued my performance.

한시간째 서있으려니 힘들어 잠시 쉬려했으나 혹시라도

그가 날 그리고 있을지 모른다는 생각에

계속 퍼포먼스를 진행했다.

I wanted to take a break because I was tired from standing

about an hour, but just in case the guy was drawing me,

I decided to continue.

그리고 얼마후 그는 내게 다가와 이 프로젝트에 대해 물어봤고

그와 얘기하며

And a little while later he came towards me and started

asking about the performance, and we talked.

그가 그린 그림속에 주인공이 나였다는 것을 알게 됐다.

Then I learned that the subject of his drawing was actually me. :)

헤롤드가 드로잉을 하게 한 이유가 무엇인지 정확히 알지 못하지만

I don't know the exact reason Harold did the drawing,

중간에 멈추지 않으니 그림속의 내가 탄생할 수 있었을것이다.

but because I didn't take a break from my performance,

I'm glad I was able to be a part of it.

3번째 Statement의 시작.

The beginning of the 3rd Statement.

새로운장소에서 퍼포먼스를 진행할때와

새로운 Statement를 선보일 때 내 가슴은 떨려온다.

I get nervous when I perform at a new place,

or start a new statement.

사람들이 어떤 반응을 보일까.. 하는 기대와 두려움이 교차한다.

How will people will react?... These thoughts of expectation

and fear cross each other.

떨리는 마음으로 퍼포먼스를 진행했고 20분이 지나도록

사람들은 관심을 보이지 않았다.

With a nervous heart I started the performance,

but even after 20 minutes, no one showed any interest.

사람들이 그냥 지나쳐 갈때마다 미소를 잃지 않으려고 노력했지만

I tried not to lose my smile while people just passed by,

마음속에선 이미 이번 Statement는 안되는구나 하는 실망이 움텄다.

but in my heart I was exhausted by the thought that this

week's statement was a failure.

그런 생각이 굳어져 가고 있을때쯤 멀리서 환한 미소를 띤

3명의 한국분들이 내게 다가와

While these thoughts were getting stronger,

3 Koreans with big, smiling faces came to me from afar.

너무나 반가워 하며 이 퍼포먼스에 대해 관심을 보였고 보드에

쓰여져 있는데로 절대 포기하지 말라며 용기를 북돋아 주었다.

They were so cheerful and showed a lot of interest in this

performance. And like it says on the board, they encouraged me

and told me to never give up.

그렇구나 포기란 없구나.

I see, there is no giving up.

잠시동안 이라도 포기하려는 생각을 한 내가 부끄러웠다.

I was ashamed that I thought of giving up this statement

for even a moment.

이 Statement는 다른 사람들을 깨닫게 하기 앞서 날 깨닫게

하는 말이었다.

This statement revealed itself to me before revealing itself to others.

그래 결코 이 프로젝트에 대한 포기는 없을거다.

Yes, there won't be any giving up on this Project,

뜻을 함께하는 Worldmelody Project팀이 있고

because I have the Worldmelody Project Team with

one heart and mind,

이 Statement가 구할 많은 사람들이 존재하는 한 말이다.

and this Statement that can encourage and uplift many people!

사실 United Nations앞에서 퍼포먼스를 하는것은 체포 경고를

받아서인지 너무나 떨렸다.

I was actually quite nervous to perform in front of the United Nations

because I had been given an arrest warning from the security officer.

그래서였을까 그 앞에 서있던 5분은 마치 내게 50분과 같았으리라.

And that's probably why the 5 minutes I was there felt like 50 minutes.

퍼포먼스를 진행한 시간이 짧아서 많은 사람들을 만나지 못했고

그래서인지UN에 관련된 이글을 쓸때 짧은 시간의 경험을

좋게 보이기 위한 포장만을 하고 있었다.

Because the performance time was short I wasn't able to meet

a lot of people, which made my original writing about my day at the

U.N. too glossed over in an attempt to look good.

좋은 경험이 좋은글을 만드는데 그게 부족해서인지 몇번이고

글을 다시 써도 맘에 들지 않았다.

Good experiences lead to good writing, but since I was lacking

in that I kept rewriting this post, although nothing satisfied me.

공동 Creative Director인 Annie가 내 글을 보고 한 말이다.

When Co-Creative Director Annie saw my writing she said:

"좋은역할만 하는 배우가 되고 싶은가

"Do you want to be an actor that only takes on 'good' roles,

아니면온갖 역할을 맡아서

or do you want to take on all sorts of roles

진짜연기를 하는 연기파가 되고싶은가?

and become a real actor?

당신의 글은 지금 좋은 역할만 맡은 배우다."

Your writing shows that you are only trying to take on "good" roles."

솔직해져라.

Be more honest.

그리고 좋은경험은 좋은 글을 낳는다.

Good experiences leave behind good words.

브라질모델 카리나는 포르투갈어가 없어 다른 브라질 사람들은

이 말의 뜻을 알수 없을거라며 조금은 심통난듯 내게 말했다.

The Brazilian model Karina (above) was a little flustered and upset

that there wasn't any Portuguese on the sign for other Brazilians

to be able to understand the statement.

이렇게 보드에 없는 언어를 쓰는 외국인을 만나면 난 미안하기만 하다.

I'm always sorry when I meet foreigners that don't have their

language displayed on the board.

보드 Size 때문에 7개 언어로만 전시하고 있고 해당언어의

번역자를 못 찾았다는 변명이 사람들에게 들릴리 없기때문이다.

The reason for this is because the limited board size only allows

for about 7 languages, and we also have yet to find translators.

This may only sound like an excuse to people.

하지만 너무 미안해하지 않으련다.

But I've decided not to be too sorry.

7개의 언어로 시작한것뿐이지 7개의 언어로 끝낼것이

아니기 때문이다.

I've started with 7 languages, but that doesn't mean I'll end with 7.

If the 1st Statement had the biggest reaction from men

두번째인 "사랑은 주는 사람에게 더욱 오래 남는다"는 여성들의 따뜻한 반응이 느껴진다.

then in the 2nd Statement, "Love lasts longer in the heart of the one who gives it,"

had the most heartfelt reaction from women.

이글을 발견하고 보는 순간 그녀들의 입가엔 웃음이 번진다.

As soon as they saw the words their mouths began to form a smile.

그녀들은 비밀을 알고 있는게 틀림없다.
They must know the secret.

2번째 Statement를 선택한 이유는 항상 받기만 좋아했던 나를 변화시킨 말이기 때문이다.

The reason I chose this second statement was because it helped change me into a

person who gives instead of the person who always liked to receive.

두번째 Statement의 첫날,

On the first day of the second statement,

한국여자분이 내게 다가와 발행이 중단되 생전 처음 보는 $2달러 지폐를 램프에 넣었다.

a Korean girl came to me and put in an out-of-print $2 bill that I had never seen before into the lamp.

자신에게 2개뿐이 없는 것인데 그 하나를 드리겠다면서 말이다.

She said she only had two of the $2 dollar bills, but that she would give one of them to me.

그 말을 듣는 순간 그녀의 $2달러 지폐는 내게 이 여행을 가능하게 하는 믿음으로 변했다.

The moment I heard that, her $2 bill changed into the faith that is enabling me to go on my travels.

내 마음에 남는 감사함이 쉽게 잊혀 질것 같지 않다.

I don't think the gratitude that remains in my heart will be forgotten easily.

이보다 주는 사람의 마음이 더 오래 남는다면 사랑은 줄 만 한 것이리라.

If the heart of the giver lasts longer than that of the

receiver, then love is definitely worth giving.

길지 않았던 인터뷰여서 기자에게 전하지 못한 말이 많았다.

Because it wasn't a long interview there were a lot of things

I wasn't able to say.

하루에 한명 긍정적인 삶의 변화가 일어나길 소망하며

임우성 혼자가 아닌 Worldmelody Project 팀의 노력이 세상을

I hope that even one person each day will be influenced

많은 아이들이 몰려와 호기심 어린 눈으로

나를 향해 물었다.

It's not in the pictures,

but many kids came to me in curiosity

and asked:

Children : Is it true?

Me : I belive it's true.

기억에선 지워져도

그 아이들의 마음에선 이 씨앗이 자라

그들과 함께 크길 진정으로 바란다.

Even if the kids forget this moment,

I really hope that the lesson that sprouted

in their hearts today may grow up with them.

June 1st: the beginning of Worldmelody Project.

이 세상에 긍정적인 변화를 가져오는 씨앗이 되고 싶은 소망으로 많은 사람들 앞에 섰습니다.

In the hopes of planting seeds of positive change in the world,

I've come in front of many people.

세상을 살다보면 누군가의 말 한마디 때문에 문득 행복을 느끼고

누군가의 한마디 때문에 인생이 바뀔수 도 있다는 생각을 합니다.

As we live in this world,

one statement from someone can bring us happiness,

or one statement can even help us believe that the world can change.

그래서 이 프로젝트에 책임감을 느끼게 됩니다.

That is why I feel responsibility for this project.

한 시간도 채 안되는 시간을 서있었지만 많은 사람들의 입가에

미소를 보았고 어떤 사람들은 이 한마디 앞에서 가던길을 멈춰 섰습니다.

I didn't stand for even one hour, but I saw numerous smiles

and people that stopped in their tracks in front of these statements.

그리고 사진을 찍으며 한동안 생각을 했습니다.

People also took pictures and stood thinking awhile.

세상이 날 바꿀지 내가 세상을 바꿀지

...

I wonder if the world will change me, or if I will change the world

...

결과는 나의 믿음에 달려있다는 것에 걸어보겠습니다.

I will gamble that the outcome of this project will depend on my faith in bringing this change.

안녕하세요. Hello.

현재 2년 계획으로 세계여행을 하고 있는 Aiden 이라고 합니다.

My name is Aiden and I’m in the middle of a two-year world trip.

이제 여행한지 95일이 넘었고 지금은 뉴욕에 머물고 있습니다.

It’s been over 95 days since I began traveling, and now I’m in New York.

이번 여행을 시작하게 된 계기는 첫번째로 내가 진정 좋아하고 사랑하는 일을 찾기 위해서입니다.

The first reason I began this trip was to figure out what I truly enjoy and love to do.

2번째 이유는 세상에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 아이디어를 찾기 위해서 입니다.

The second is to find ideas that will help bring a positive influence to the world.

지난 95일간 여행을 하면서 시도해 볼만한 idea를 찾게 되었습니다.

As I’ve been traveling for the past 95 days, I’ve come upon an idea that I would like to try.

World Melody Project 라고 이름 지은 이 아이디어는 사람들에게 긍정적인 변화를 줄 구절을 7개 국어 (한국어, 영어, 스페인어, 프랑스어, 독일어, 일본어, 중국어) 로 번역할 것입니다.

This project, named “World Melody Project” was initiated to bring positive change through statements translated in 7 different languages (Korean, English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese).

그 다음 30”x40” size 보드에 적어 뉴욕의 랜드마크에서 (혹은 타임스퀘어) 직접 사람들이 볼수있도록 전시하는 것입니다.

The statements will be written on a 30”x40” board and will be presented for people to see in New York landmarks (e.g. Times Square).

또한 전시는 매일 할 계획입니다.

I’m planning to present a statement everyday.

외국에서 만나는 진심과 의미가 담긴 자기나라의 말을 보며 감동 받고 행동할 많은 사람들을 생각해 봅니다.

I think about all the people who will be inspired when they see genuine and meaningful statements in their mother tongue.

사람들과 세상이 긍정적으로 변하는데 함께 했으면 좋겠습니다.

I hope that we may join together to bring positive change to people and the world.
